Yes, I am adding to the virus…

…but I am doing so from a marketing angle. I am not sure that Dominos, who is behind this campaign, will be very successful with it but, what do you think?
In a way I applaud them for the attempt and it is a bit clever but, were people fooled and if so, might they think they have been deceived into watching an ad? Does trickery make for a good brand message? Does Dominos care?

That’s SOOOOO funny. It doesn’t feel deceptive to me, because….
1. Could anyone be that much like Paris Hilton and still be for real? Come on, now.
2. While it’s got that YouTube reality thing going on, I think we can all sense from the get-go that it isn’t *really* real.
3. It’s freaking hysterical. The way it’s wrapped up in a Perfect Commerical Ending makes it absolutely perfect.
IMHO, if you’re a big brand using YouTube, this is how you do it.

I have to admit that I do agree with you that it is hard to think this is real however, I am not sure that I think people would necessarily know they were being lured in by a brand as opposed to someone making a mock video(not that that much really matters). I guess I just did not think it was very funny. That is where our opinions diverge.
Where our opinions somewhat reconverge (not a real word)is on that point that this is how brands should be handling YouTube. This framework IS a good model for brands to look at but I think that they can do much better in terms of entertainment value, storytelling and brand representation.
Great comments Aimee! This is why I love to blog…smart people put my in my place

The first 2 are almost embarasing to watch. You just wish/hope it isn’t real.
The 3rd video is a bit of a let down, it isn’t very funny to me. Not that i feel fooled or anything. But they could have put more story in the last ep. I would have liked to see the dad freak out over it, and her saying: “Oh relax dad have a slice of domino’s”. Or something more widely creative.

That is exactly my issue with this execution. Strategy is good but execution is bad as I do not find it that creative.
