How Is Social Media Changing Corporate Life

Posted on April 27, 2007
According to PRNewswire, Research organization, Melcrum, announced
the preliminary findings of the first ever survey into
social media adoption by large corporations worldwide.

Here we go with the firsts again! Is this really the first time that this type of study has been done…
anyhow here are some stats from the study

  • 55% Using blogs or planning to start in the next 12 months,

  • 63% Watching online video through video sharing services like You Tube.

  • 43% Listening to podcasts

  • 51% Using RSS/webfeeds

  • 41% Involved social networks like LinkedIn

…and here is the stat that I really love

  • 73% of respondents having no intention of implementing 3D web tools like Second Life for their businesses.

…I shall reserve judgment on this one :)

Top reasons why people are so excited about social media

  • 71% selected "improved employee engagement"

  • 59% said "improved internal collaboration"

  • 47% chose "creating a two-way dialogue with senior executives".

There are more stats. You can find them here.
