Jeremy

The thing is, the entire web is a virtual world. When computer can process the type of graphics that we saw in second life, the web will look much different--trust me!

Sorry, but I will never understand cyberworlds like second life. I tried using second life once to see what the hype was all about. My computer could barely process the graphics, the avatar creation process was tedious and there really wasnt anything to do once i got there.

i would much rather see a brand spend time learning how to communicate with twitter, blogging, etc, than set up a virtual world.

I don't think it was lack of a sharp strategy, but lack of a western strategy.
To me anyway, virtual worlds are as much of the audience than they are for it. Would have been a better strategy to start from the ground up based on experience than to try and keep refining the existing UX based on what works in eastern cultures.
